Powerpoint Presentations for teaching

Lots of powerpoint presentations which can be saved and adapted for use in class. Will require a fair bit of exploring before you'll find what you need. Warning: Some links do not work and resources are not grouped to levels. Exploration of such resource loaded websites can be very time-consuming.

Values with News

I am exploring ways to make reading newspapers more purposeful for children.
  • Select news that are more relevant and match the news to a core value.
  • Discuss and share the news in class, highlight how WE should feel after reading the news.
  • Ask them which core value they think the news help them to see. It kind of helps them make meaning of the things they read in a simple way.
  • Put the news up at the back of the class to allow follow-ups. (E.g Classify news under core value headings) If it becomes a habit, they will be able to id the core value very quickly!

Time for Kids offers many interesting news for reading with the children.

Teaching Time

This site provides three interactive resources on Time : An interactive clock for basic time reading, a matching activity on analog and digital clocks, and the a very good one on telling time after/before a given duration. Do note that we use only a single dot here and not 2 as in the resources listed.
